Chairman Mimura’s Comments regarding the Trade Agreement between Japan and the United States of America

　I sincerely welcome the agreement of Japan and U.S. leaders on the Trade Agreement between Japan and the United States of America. 

　In the trade of goods, while keeping tariff reductions on agricultural, forestry and fishery products within the TPP level, I highly appreciate that the joint statement did not include asking Japan to implement controlled trade measures, such as imposing additional tariffs on automobiles exported to the United States or controlling the quantity of automobile exports under the implementation of the agreement.

　Regarding automobiles and auto parts, I look forward to prompt agreement on matters that have been continuously discussed, such as the timing of tariff eliminations and details of rules of origin. 

　We also hope that Japan and the United States will play a leading role in creating high-level international rules for digital trade.
